This is a special birthday for Annemarie, not really the age, she is turning 7. But 18 months ago her Daddy and mother separated for good. Last year was a really rough year for her. I started dating her Daddy in August and her sister's birthday was in September. Her Daddy was invited to her own party but not invited to her sister's party now that he's dating, (side note: it's only ok for the mother to have her boyfriend around since the day she kicked Daddy out!). So, her sister got a birthday party at our house, which meant she got 2 parties, Annemarie was barely 6 then and did understand, but when her birthday rolled around she sure remembered it. lol So this birthday party had to be good. We did the party early so she could invite her school mates before school ended (side note: even the 9 1/2 year old sister calls unfair! lol). To ensure a little extra special, I made her her very own small cake, like a 1 year old gets. She loved it.
